• Ages 7 to 9 should take 5 to 10 mg once per day.

Most patients will notice measurable improvements 2 to 4 weeks after starting treatment, particularly if dietary changes are also made. A few individuals may take longer, however. Treatment may continue for as long as it provides benefit and no serious side effects develop.

Precautions & Side Effects

• Muscle pain
• Unusual bruising or bleeding
• Dark or foamy urine
• Abdominal pain, especially that radiates to the back
• Chest pain
• Symptoms of infection; chills, fever, sore throat, etc.
• Loss of appetite

Young and elderly patients are at increased risk of side effects and should be monitored closely.
